What are the advantages of digital imaging?
Digital imaging is a new dental X-ray technique that sends your X-rays directly to a computer. Traditional X-rays had to be developed in a dark room. If you come in for a dental exam, Dr. Sonny Afshar and Dr. Fara Afshar may recommend digital imaging in Roseville, California. Digital X-rays use less radiation than traditional X-rays. Also, digital imaging makes the images available on the computer just seconds after being taken. Images can be enhanced and enlarged, making it easier for our dentists to find dental issues and to show them to you. If needed, digital X-rays can be sent to another dentist or to a specialist. Using subtraction radiography, our dentists can compare two images digitally – everything that is the same between the images will be subtracted out so only the differences are left.
Do I need digital imaging?
Depending on your dental health and needs, our dentists may choose to take X-rays as often as every six months. If you have not had dental decay or problems recently, you may only need X-rays once a year or every couple of years.
